During his participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the President of the Brazil–Russia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, Gilberto Ramos, gave an interview to the international news agency TASS, one of the most traditional in the Russian Federation and a reference in covering the political, economic, and international agenda of the country. In the conversation, Ramos addressed strategic topics for deepening economic relations between Brazil and Russia, including cooperation in the fertilizer sector, the advancement of digital assets, including cryptocurrencies, the interbank correspondence agreement between financial institutions from both countries mediated by the Chamber, as well as perspectives for strengthening bilateral relations and logistic integration between South America and Eurasia.
In the interview, he spoke about Russia's strategic role as one of the main suppliers of fertilizers for Brazilian agribusiness and advocated for deepening industrial cooperation, including local production projects, technology transfer, and the development of new inputs aimed at increasing agricultural productivity. He also emphasized that the Chamber has been working to expand financial mechanisms that facilitate commercial operations between Brazilian and Russian companies, reducing barriers in international transactions through an interbank correspondence agreement that brings financial institutions from both countries closer and creates new alternatives for settling payments in bilateral trade, contributing to enhancing the security, predictability, and efficiency of operations between Brazilian and Russian companies.
Another highlight was the advancement of digital assets, including cryptocurrencies, as instruments capable of increasing the efficiency of international operations. Ramos stated that the technological transformation of the global financial system opens up opportunities for new business models and cooperation between Brazil and Russia, especially in a scenario of growing digitalization of the economy. According to him, the Chamber is monitoring these transformations and seeks to connect companies, investors, and institutions interested in innovative solutions for foreign trade.
When discussing logistics infrastructure, Ramos reinforced the potential of the Rota Quadrante Rondon, one of the five official corridors of the South American Integration Routes coordinated by the Brazilian government. The corridor connects Rondônia, Acre, and the west of Mato Grosso to Peruvian ports on the Pacific Ocean, reducing distances, logistics costs, and transportation time to Asian markets. The route also integrates with the Amazon waterways and represents an opportunity to further enhance commercial flows between Brazil, Russia, and Asia, increasing the competitiveness of Brazilian exports and strengthening new international trade corridors.
Throughout the conversation with TASS, Gilberto Ramos also reinforced that the Brazil–Russia Chamber acts as a permanent bridge between governments, financial institutions, and the private sector, promoting investment, innovation, logistical integration, and new mechanisms for economic cooperation. According to him, the moment is to transform the high existing potential between the two countries into concrete projects capable of expanding bilateral trade, stimulating productive investments, and consolidating a long-term strategic partnership between Brazil and Russia.
